A Message from Pastor Rich Hay…

Pastor Rich Hay

Pastor Rich Hay

As in the day of Ezra, we believe that the people of God are in need of restoration. We need our souls, our marriages, our families and our church restored.

At least part of God’s answer to restoration is joy. Restore the joy of the Lord to our lives and our souls are healed. Return the joy of the Lord to worship, service, study of the Word, and to the relationships in our families, and then the church will be significantly restored.

In our small body, approximately 100, we are attempting to live out the high standards of God’s Word with joy.

We emphasize the relevance of all scripture, Old and New Testament, to the maturing of the individual to “the full measure of the stature of Christ”. We believe in salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.Precept Bible Study methods are actively taught.

The AWANA program for children through high school is the central focus for our youth ministry, and our people have wholeheartedly supported this emphasis.

The young hearted Seniors’ active participation provides stability, maturity and spiritual examples of encouragement. The fellowship at each Sunday night’s Bible study provides a unifying and strengthening bond that we view as vital.

The power of God will be demonstrated in direct relation to the prayers of His people. Sunday morning worship is an environment which encourages the participation of prayer and praise as well as during our prayer meeting on Wednesday night at 7 p.m..

Welcome to Sequim and Olympic Bible Fellowship! It’s a great place to live, raise a family and serve the Lord!

History…

Olympic Bible Fellowship began in the spring of 1994 with a group of five families in a home fellowship who recognized the leading of God to establish a church in the Sequim Dungeness Valley.

Olympic Bible Fellowship called a pastor, and began meeting at the Dungeness Schoolhouse on Nov. 6th, 1994.

We are a non-denominational church, and hold no organizational ties. We do not hold to any denominational affiliations.

We met at the the Movimiento Evangelistico Agua de Vida Church, (aka the “old” Calvary Chapel), 261913 Highway 101 just west of Sequim through November 2012.

In December 2012, we moved our services to the building on Guiles Road in Gardiner, WA.

Dec. 2, 2012 – Our first service held at the current “Gardiner Community Chapel” – what a lovely building!

In January 2013, we moved to our current location at the Olympic Theater Arts building in downtown Sequim. We invite you to join us for praise, worship, teaching and enjoying one another’s company.

Statement of Faith (Beliefs)

WE BELIEVE….

…the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments are the verbally inspired Word of God, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed and are the final authority for faith and life.
Reference: 2 Tim. 3:16, 17:2; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12-13

….the Godhead exists in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three persons are one God having the same nature, attributes and perfections.
Reference: Deut. 6:4; 2 Cor. 13:14; Ps. 90:2

….in Christ’s eternal existence as God, His incarnation and the Virgin Birth, that His death on the cross provided the substitutionary atonement for sin, in the literal bodily resurrection from the dead, that Christ is our intercessor in heaven and that He will return to the earth in the future.
Reference: John 1:1-2; Luke 1:35; Rom. 3:24-25, 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2; 1Peter 2:24; Eph 1:7; Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 7:25, 9:24-25

….that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Godhead convicts men of sin then regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals, and sets apart believers unto a holy life, the Holy Spirit empowers believers and is the teacher of the Word of God guiding believers into all truth.
Reference: John 16:8-11, 13; 2 Cor. 12:12-14; Rom. 8:9; Eph. 1:13-14, 5:18; 1 John 2:20, 27

….that man was created in God’s image and likeness, that in Adam’s sin mankind inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God, that all mankind is corrupt in body, soul and spirit and in need of redemption and mankind is unable, on his own, to restore fellowship with God.
Reference: Gen. 1:26-27; Rom. 3:22-23, 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3,12

….that salvation is a free gift of God not of works but brought to man by grace and received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and salvation requires repentance; and true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.
Reference: Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18-19; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11

….that there will be a personal, visible, bodily return of Jesus Christ to earth, there will be a bodily resurrection of the just into the eternal glory of God’s presence and there will be a bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
Reference: Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29, 11:25-26; Rev. 20:5-6, 11-15; Mark 9:43-48; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7

SECONDARY DOCTRINES

Secondary doctrines, while not less important, are not essential to salvation, and as such, are found listed here apart from our basic Statement of Faith. Some churches may vary in the stance they take regarding these various doctrines and yet, because they hold to the basic doctrines of salvation, we recognize their place in the work of God.

The following are those areas that Olympic Bible Fellowship (OBF) considers “secondary doctrine” and the stance that OBF holds for each one.

WE BELIEVE…

…in the imminent, pre-millennial rapture of those redeemed in Christ and in the subsequent return of Christ to earth to establish His millennial kingdom. (1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Cor. 15:52; Rev. 19:11-16)

…that those who persevere in the profession of their faith in Christ as Lord and Savior are kept secure in Christ forever.
(Rev. 1-3; 2 Tim. 2:11-19; Heb. 6:6, 10)

…that at salvation every believer receives a new nature that is able, through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, to overcome the old nature but that sinless perfection cannot be attained until we reach heaven.
(Rom. 6:13, 8:12-13; Gal. 5:16-25; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:10; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 1 John 3:5-9)

…that it is the obligation of the saved to witness by life and word, the truths of the Word and to seek to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind (fulfill the Great Commission). (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:19-20)

…that one or more spiritual gifts are bestowed upon each believer at the time of salvation according to God’s sovereign will, that all gifts are given for the profit of the entire body of Christ, and that believers do not need to exercise any particular gift in order to either obtain or prove their salvation. (1 Cor. 12:4-11; 2 Cor. 12:12; Eph. 4:7-12)

…that the church is a spiritual entity made up of all “born-again” believers, that the church is the espoused bride of Christ, that the establishment and continuance of the local church is clearly taught in the New Testament.
(Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-27; 1 Cor. 12:12-14, 3:9, 16, 5:4-7, 13, 11:23-26; 2 Cor. 11:2; Acts 13:1-4, 2:41-42, 18:8; 1 Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11; 1 Peter 5:1-4)

…that Satan is a created being, the author of sin and the cause of the fall, that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man, and that he will be eternally punished in the lake of fire. (Job 1:6-7; Isa. 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11, 25:41; Rev. 20:10)

…that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord where they await the first resurrection where spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord; that unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious misery until the second resurrection when the spirit, soul and body are reunited and appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer everlasting punishment.
(Luke 23:42, 16:19-26; Matt. 25:41-46; Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil 1:23, 3:21; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Mark 9:43-48)

Church time
Testimony

Membership

We believe everyone who has made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior becomes a “member” of the Church represented as a Christ-ruled and Christ-centered brotherhood.

Because of this we have chosen not to have a formal membership.

Even so, we want to stress the importance of commitment to one another as a “family” of Christ.

Thus, we encourage all who join with us in fellowship to prayerfully read the following in regard to fellowship: Having been led by God the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, and desiring to unite in the worship, fellowship and testimony of that part of the Body of Christ known as Olympic Bible Fellowship, we purpose to:

  • walk together in Christian love.
  • pray with and for one another.
  • be thoughtful and courteous to one another, slow to take offense, quick to forgive, quick to seek forgiveness.
  • guard the purity of the Church and participate in and contribute to its growth in the knowledge of Scripture.
  • assist as the Lord enables, both physically and financially in the work of the church.
  • love and pray for all believers.
  • establish consistent, personal Bible study, prayer, and family devotions.
  • bring our children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
  • seek to be above reproach among men honest, forthright and faithful, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts.
  • be an example, in word and deed, so that others may come to a saving faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

We honor and remember those of our Fellowship who are absent from the body and present with the Lord – and look forward to reuniting with them again.  Click here for those who have gone before us.
